Selfishness

There’s been a lot of discussion lately on reopening the country versus keeping it closed. Has been a big push of propaganda lately about calling individuals that want to get back to work selfish. 

The individuals that actually want to get back to work or being labeled selfish there are those that rely on all different kinds of supplies but are staying at home which seems more selfish to me because of the reliance on others to continue down that path.

There is an expectation that their garbage will be picked up an expectation at the grocery store will be open and they can get all the food they need. There is an expectation that the truck drivers should supply the stores. There is an expectation of the farmers, meatpackers, fruit and vegetable pickers all need to keep working in order to supply the food, while they shelter in place.

The entire premise of shelter in place is based on the idea that others must risk their lives in order to protect yours. There’s nothing virtuous about ignoring the largely invisible army required to allow people to shelter in place. 

I would like to go back to restaurants normally just like a lot of other Americans I want to shop a little just like a lot of other Americans don’t want to go on with my life with a little more normalcy just like other Americans.

I admit I could catch the virus just like I could catch the cold or the flu I could get run over by a bus I could get struck by lightning risk is part of life. We take risks every day and the most successful amongst us probably take a little more risk than anyone else. If you choose to stay at home that is absolutely you’re right but please don’t start screaming at me about how I am putting other lives at risk. You won’t have to worry about catching it because you’ll be at home sheltered in place.
